How to Change Wallpapers Automatically in Windows 10

Automatically changing wallpapers is perhaps the most effective approach to keep your desktop looking new and full of unexpected shocks. Personally, I have a large selection of lovely wallpapers and like switching between them whenever I turn on my computer. If you are a desktop wallpaper enthusiast or simply want to brighten up your computer’s screen, I can show you three different techniques to automatically change wallpapers in Windows 10 that I have discovered. Let’s have a look at it. How to Make Windows 10 More Personal

How to Customized Windows 10

If you want to have a more customized experience with Windows 10, this guide will show you how to tweak and personalize your experience. More information may be found here.

Method1 – Windows 10 Native

Microsoft Windows comes with a built-in slideshow capability that may automatically change your background when a predetermined amount of time elapses. To utilize this function, you must first download your own collection of wallpapers. The following is a step-by-step description of how to use this feature: 1. Download your own collection of wallpapers.

  1. Microsoft Windows 10 will only allow a single wallpaper collection folder that contains a single wallpaper collection. Put all of your favorite wallpapers in a single folder first
  2. Then go to Windows SettingsPersonalizeBackground and select one of your favorite wallpapers. Click on the drop-down menu belowBackground and selectSlideshow from the selection that appears. Click on theBrowsebutton on the right and navigate to the wallpaper collection folder that you made. To set the interval, select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu underneath the clock. Every heading should have a different picture, and you should choose the appropriate interval (which might range from 1 minute to 1 day).

All set, your desktop screen will now automatically swap to a fresh wallpaper following the time period you specify in step 1.

Method2 – Using third-party apps

A specialized third-party program that can both download and modify your wallpaper automatically is also an option. I’ve included two of the greatest programs available for this purpose that are also completely free:

1.John’s Background Switcher(JBS)

JBS is my preferred option because of its straightforward interface and operation. It comes with several default setups that don’t require any configuration to get you started. You only have to pick the collection, and the captivating wallpapers begin to emerge. In case you want to build your own sources for downloading wallpapers, you may acquire them from sites such as Instagram. Flickr. Facebook. SmugMug Photos. Vladstudio., and a few more. Additionally, you may integrate your own wallpaper collection in addition to these resources.

To my surprise, each resource provides additional possibilities for obtaining the essential wallpapers, which, I must say, are really customized.

Its image mode feature, which allows you to have complete control over how the wallpaper is applied, is another feature I appreciate.

In order to change backgrounds on a regular basis, you may choose an interval between 10 seconds and 7 days.

  • I choose JBS because it has straightforward interface and way of doing business. As a starting point, it has a number of default setups that don’t require any more configuration. You only need to pick the collection, and the captivating wallpapers will begin to display on your computer. In case you want to establish your own sources for downloading wallpapers, you may acquire them from sites such as Instagram. Flickr. Facebook. SmugMug Photos. Vladstudio., and a few more sources. As an addition to these resources, you may integrate your own wallpaper collection. Adding any media RSS is also an option, which essentially allows you to get wallpapers from any image websites, such as DeviantArt or Behance. To my surprise, each resource provides additional possibilities for obtaining the desired wallpapers, which, I must say, are really adaptable. To give an example, photographs from Flickr may be found by searching for them using a time period, tagging them with keywords, searching for people, searching for groups, or searching for your own Flickr photos. Its image mode feature, which allows you to have complete control over how the wallpaper is applied, is another feature that I appreciate about it. You may use numerous photos to crop and fit, extend and scale, and even create collages and montages. You may choose an interval between 10 seconds and 7 days for changing backgrounds. Most importantly, it supports twin monitors, with specialized features to make your multi monitor configuration seem even more appealing to the eye.

When it comes to functionality and customizability, BioniX is light years ahead of JBS in almost every category. However, in my opinion, it is a bit tough to operate and will perform best when in the hands of a more experienced user (such as myself). Despite the fact that the UI is clumsy and overwhelming, I would go so far as to state that it is “not user-friendly.” I actually had to spend a few hours just getting my bearings on the program and getting started with the wallpaper source additions.

In terms of wallpaper sources, you may either useFlickr Mass Downloader to download wallpapers from Flickr, or manually input the URLs of web pages from which you wish to get photos from.

In order to name a few of its distinguishing characteristics, you can apply effects to all wallpapers, obtain day/night wallpapers based on the current time, obtain dynamic webcam wallpapers, create dedicated shortcuts, automate categorization, reject bad wallpapers (low resolution), and many other features.

  • Unbelievable levels of customization
  • It is possible to upload photographs from any website on the internet. Day/night to display light or dark wallpapers according to the time of day or night
  • It automatically eliminates wallpapers that are not suitable
  • Obtain photographs from publicly accessible webcams

  • The UI is a little challenging to navigate
  • In order to add wallpaper sources, additional manual effort is required.

For both of the aforementioned utilities, dedicated stop and play buttons are provided for initiating and pausing wallpaper switching, respectively. Once you’ve added the necessary resources, you may control the wallpapers by clicking on the buttons below.

Method3 – Using Bing

Bing is well-known for itsDaily Background Image, which updates the homepage of the website with a different wallpaper each day. The daily wallpaper is a popular reason for many people to visit Bing, and I am confident you will agree that they are beautiful. If you like the Bing background photos, you may download them to use on your computer as a wallpaper. As soon as a new Bing Daily Background Image is released, you may update your wallpaper with the current version by using theBing Wallpaper.

If you want to use the Bing homepage picture as your desktop backdrop, tick the box next to it once you finish the installation.

The Bing Daily Background Image will be shown as your desktop background after a few seconds after clicking on the button.

Ubuntu Desktop Wallpapers

Despite the increasing popularity of major operating systems such as Windows and macOS, a significant number of individuals continue to use them. More information may be found here.

To sum it up

These three ways should be sufficient for keeping your desktop looking clean. It’s important to note that often changing your wallpaper will have an impact on the battery life of your laptop. If you have a low battery, it is preferable to prevent automatic wallpaper change or at the very least slow it down. Furthermore, if you are utilizing a ‘download and apply’ wallpapers service, your network traffic will be consumed, which may cause other network activity to be slowed down while the pictures are being downloaded and applied.

  • Question What is the best way to change the wallpaper on a PC running Windows 10? Select “personalization” from the context menu by right-clicking anywhere on the backdrop. Upon clicking this, you will be sent to the preferences page, where you will find further wallpaper selections and a button that reads “Browse.” You may use any photo file as your background in this section. Question On a desktop computer, how can I change the backdrop to white? There didn’t appear to be any white options available. Even if all else fails, you can create a simple solid-color background by opening Microsoft Paint (which is free and comes pre-installed on Windows 10 devices), using the bucket fill tool to make it white, saving it wherever you want (just make sure you don’t forget! ), and then following this guide to set that image as your wallpaper. Question I’d want to have numerous photographs shown on my desktop at the same time. What is the best way to create a wallpaper with several grids? If you want to merge images, you should generally use a painting application. Check out for some inspiration. Question Where can I obtain photographs other than My Pictures to use as a backdrop, if not on My Pictures? If you right-click on an empty section of the desktop, you should see the option to Personalize your computer’s appearance. Select this, then where it reads “Choose albums for your slideshow,” click Browse (beneath it) and navigate to a folder containing the photographs you want to include in your presentation
  • Once you’ve done that, hit OK. Question Who was it that altered my background? Is this a sign that I’ve been hacked? There would be no use in hackers breaking into your computer simply to alter the backdrop of your computer, thus they would not. Instead, you either changed it by mistake or you configured the wallpaper to change every hour so that it would change every hour (this is customizable). It is possible to disable this feature by going into your customization settings
  • Question What is the process for activating Windows 10? When installing Windows 10, you only need to activate it if you did not enter a serial key during the installation process. It is possible to alter the wallpaper if you have a pre-built system because it is already operational. It is necessary to purchase the complete edition of Windows 10 if you have a system that was built by yourself and you did not input the key. Once you’ve purchased it, all you have to do is go into the settings menu and activate it using the provided key code. For your information, I’ve heard that even on a non-activated operating system, you can right click the photo and pick “Set as desktop picture” or anything along those lines, and the wallpaper will be set. I’m not sure whether that works, but you may give it a shot. Question What is the best way to utilize my own photographs as wallpaper? Right-click on the image to enlarge it. Make a selection from the drop-down menu and select “put as desktop background.” Question Whenever I download a wallpaper, it seems to be blurry when I put it on my desktop. Why? Screens, like photographs, have a natural resolution that is set by the manufacturer. A screen cannot display a picture in its utmost detail if the screen itself isn’t detailed, and an image can’t be as detailed if it has been bloated and stretched to the furthest extent possible. Consider the analogy of writing on a balloon and then stretching it out really far
  • Question What is the best way to access my photographs in Google Pics so that I may select a backdrop or wallpaper from among them? You must first download the images to your computer and then select one of them to serve as your desktop backdrop. There is no integration between Windows 10 and Google Pics
  • Question What is the best way to restore the default Windows background settings? Click on “Themes” in the right pane of the customization settings window, and then on “Windows” under the “Change theme” portion of the personalization options window

Enable wallpaper Slideshow in Windows 10 even on battery

We’ve previously published a substantial amount on how to customize Windows 10 for PCs and laptops, which you can find here (link at the end). A good example of this is Slideshow, which is something I’d never used before. The underlying notion is quite simple. Create a folder containing your preferred wallpaper and set your operating system to change it every X minutes. It’s a fun way to keep your desktop looking new, and it’s even great if you’re having trouble deciding which wallpaper to use.

What is the explanation behind this?

How to enable Slideshow

Slideshow may be enabled in a few simple steps. But first and foremost, you’ll want to create a folder that contains all of the wallpaper that you intend to cycle. It is recommended that you establish aSlideshow folder within the Pictures folder. Once the folder has been established, you can simply copy and paste (or transfer) all of your photographs into it. You may even create a OneDrive folder if that’s what you prefer. Remember that these wallpapers will sync across all of our Windows 10 devices, regardless of whether or not the wallpapers are stored on their hard drives as well.

1. Go to All Settings by clicking the Notification Center

Go to yourSlideshow folder that you made previously in order to provide the directory location.

6. Set time interval

Change the photo every time by selecting a time choice ranging from 1 minute to 1 day underChange picture every time. The frequency at which your wallpaper is automatically rotated is determined by this setting. For my system, I choose to poll every 10 minutes, however some of you may like to poll once a day instead. It is entirely up to you!

7. Choose a fit

This decision is completely up to the user. The majority of individuals chooseFit when this option is selected. It is possible, though, that you will want to TileorStretch if you have a smaller wallpaper. When using a multi-monitor configuration, you will notice that each monitor will display a separate/different wallpaper from your picture dump as a nice bonus. I have to confess that it is rather entertaining to have three different backgrounds cycle around on my home computer.

How to enable when not plugged in

Unless explicitly enabled, the Slideshow functionality on a laptop that is not connected to AC power will not function by default. The rationale for this should be self-explanatory: electricity savings. We don’t know exactly how much energy is lost when we change the wallpaper, especially if we just do it once per hour or so. No matter how you configure it, the operating system will disable the function until you connect the computer to a dedicated power supply. So, if you’re using Slideshow on your Surface Pro 3 and are perplexed as to why it isn’t updating, now you know why.

You may, however, easily change this option by utilizing the operating system’s tools. Just be aware that, despite the fact that it does not appear to be a significant move, you will most likely have an influence on your battery life. We’re off to a good start!

1. Right-click on the Start menu

Depending on which electricity plan is currently in effect (or all of them) choose Modify the plan’s parameters.

4. Advanced

To delve a little deeper, you will need to pick the appropriate option on this page. Modify the advanced power configurations.

5. Desktop background settings

Expand the tree by double-clicking on it under the section “Desktop backdrop settings.” You will now notice options forSlideshow, one forOn battery, and another forPlugged in, as well as additional options. Change the choice fromPaused toAvailable under the On battery section. Select OK at this point. That’s all there is to it! Slideshow should now be able to run on your laptop or Surface regardless of whether or not it is charging. If, on the other hand, you see that your battery life has been reduced, you can simply redo the steps above and turn Slideshow back onPausedwhen the battery is low.

My wallpaper

In conclusion, for those who are interested, the background photos featured in this post are courtesy of Michael Gillett (@MichaelGillett), and you may download these as well as many more photographs from his OneDrive here. I often frequently visit the website Deviant Art and do a search for Windows 10.
