During a 6-month period, I built and implemented the HID Wiimote driver as part of my bachelor thesis, which was completed in a few months. Every Wii Remote is recognized as a native game controller, as they should be, thanks to my driver, which resolves this issue.

- When you turn off the Wii Remote or move out of the Bluetooth range, Windows will not recognize that the Wii Remote has been turned off or removed. When shutting down Windows, the Wii Remote Device will not be ejected and will remain in the system upon subsequent startup. Each time the Wii Remote device becomes unplugged, you must manually unplug it from Windows Devices and reconnect it. Ensure that the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 (64 Bit Download, 32 Bit Download) is installed before attempting to start the HID Wiimote Control Center. If the HID Wiimote Control Center displays an error or does not start at all, check the following: When utilizing other Bluetooth devices, they may become inoperable until the Wii Remote is removed from the equation. Other programs that require direct communication with the Wii Remote (for example, Dolphin Emulator) may not function properly. Bluetooth Stacks that use proprietary APIs, such as Toshiba’s, are incompatible with one other. It is possible that Driver Signature Verification will be a difficult requirement for certain AntiCheat engines.
Driver Signature Verification
Unfortunately, I do not currently possess a Code Signing Certificate. As a result, for 64-bit systems, the Driver Signature Verification must be turned off as well. Otherwise, Windows will not be able to load the driver. The Driver Signature Verification can be turned off permanently or only for a single restart, depending on your preference (after an additional restart it is active again).
Permanently deactivate Driver Signature Verification
Start the HID Wiimote Control Center by pressing the Start button. Open the HID Wiimote Installer by selecting Tools – Installer from the main menu. Test Mode should be enabled in the installation window, and your system should be rebooted. You may also manually enable Test Mode if you prefer that option. Create a CMD window with administrative privileges. Afterwards, use the following command to restart your system. The command Bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON is used to enable testing.
One Time Deactivation
There are several actions that must be completed in order to disable the Driver Signature Verification. Those are different in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 and later versions of the operating system. You should save all of your work since you will need to restart your computer. Windows 7 is a computer operating system.
- Your computer should be restarted. After the BIOS has finished loading and before Windows begins to boot, press F8 to access the “Advanced Boot Options” for Windows (similar to when you are attempting to enter “safe mode”). Select “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” from the drop-down menu.
Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 are both available.
- Open the Charms Bar and select a charm. Select “Settings” and then “Change PC settings” from the drop-down menu. Select “Update and recovery” from the drop-down menu and click on the “Recovery” tab. Under “Advanced Startup,” choose “Restart Now” from the drop-down menu. After restarting the computer, select “Troubleshoot.” Select “Advanced settings” from the drop-down menu. Select “Startup Settings” from the drop-down menu. Select “Restart” from the drop-down menu. 7: Select “Disable driver signature enforcement,” which is the last option on the menu.
Windows will now start in a Testing Mode, and a little watermark may appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. After a second restart, Windows returns to its default configuration, which means you must disable Driver Signature Verification each time you wish to use the driver.
Skip PIN Request
If you are using Windows 10 Creators Update or above, you will not be able to bypass the PIN entry screen in “Settings – Bluetoothother devices.” Although it is not necessary, scroll down to “Related Settings” and choose “Devices and Printers” in order to link your Wii Remote.
Its “Add a device” dialog box continues to accept a PIN that is not filled in. The “Devices and Printers” window may also be accessed by right-clicking on the Bluetooth system tray and selecting “Join a Personal Area Network” from the context menu.
Because Windows internally ranks all viable drivers for a device based mostly on their signature, it is conceivable that the default driver for the Wii Remote will continue to be utilized.
